Cheyenne Territories Info - By Chase Meriden

Population: 35.8 million  Establishment: 600 AGB  Capital: Currently Quinnipiac    Religion: Varied  Government: Republic

Leader: James Moss

Brief History: Made up of multiple tribes and city-states, the history of the Cheyenne Territories is expansive and heavily detailed. It would be impossible in brief to get into all of it. I have listed here the major events that impacted the territories as a whole. When the Great Break rocked the world and most of Concord collapsed, the province of Joy fared far better than any other in Concord. When Concord collapsed in the years following, Joy remained the one standing province. Made up mostly of Anasazi culture that populated the south-west region, they are forced to become self-sufficient during the Age of Chaos, and due to their standing, receive a number of Concord refugees. This leads to the area becoming

quite diverse, although far south tribes of Anasazi remain separate.

Things are quiet for Joy during the Age of Chaos in comparison to much of the Two Continents. Under the rule of Queen Winona of Joy, they establish a policing / security force to uphold the peace and slowly starts to grow.

In 87 AGB the Kingdom of Joy was officially established by King Payatt. Although established as a theoretical unified nation, Joy was anything but.

Several tribes of Anasazi did not even acknowledge Joy as a ruling government. For some time, this did not create issues because the Kingdom of Joy do not develop an intricate system of taxation. With no taxes necessary, the tribes who didn’t necessarily feel themselves to be a part of the Kingdom of Joy doesn’t protest and traded regularly with other Joy cities and tribes.

I

n 230 under King Attawa, the Kingdom of Joy establishes a fixated taxation system. A number of tribes unite and rebel in the Revolution of Kings, named for the five Kings of Tribes that opposed the government. The war lasts four years, and changed hands a number of times. In 233, King Matchitehew of the rebellion betrayed the other kings at the Battle of the Six Spears. In the battle, Kings Cha’tima and Songaa were killed, and the revolution suffers a heavy blow as Cha’tima was heavily viewed as the leader of the revolution. The Revolution pushed on with King Tama and Queen Adia. They won a crushing battle at the Quinnipiac River, and turned the tide of the revolution. On September 5th 234, resistance forces stormed the Hall of Joy. King Attawa was defeated, and Tama took control. However, instead of instituting the change they fought for, Tama did not institute great change, and ruled as Attawa had. Stories say that Cha’tima felt greatly betrayed by Tama’s actions, and the two did not speak for the rest of their lives.

i

n 420, an Anasazi group founds Cheyenne in the West of the territory. This particular sect became popular for their treatment of outsiders. This started a blend of cultures in a small area.

In 433, King Horace took the throne. He is deeply distrustful of Rhone and believe the Crown Prince Johnson has his sights on invading. He sends an agent who successfully assassinates Prince Johnson. This leads to the Ten Years War. The Kingdom of Joy goes on to lose the war, and collapses. The final province or remains of Concord is dissolved.

In the remnants, Several tribes and city-states pop up, including Cheyenne, Chamber Hill, Crow, Quinnipiac and several others. Cheyenne has the most influence and power. This leads the area to start being referred to as the Cheyenne lands. The entire region remains a mix of peoples. At this point in 440, it’s about 70% Anazasi or mixed and 30 percent other.

I

n 450, conflict starts between Cheyenne and Chamber hill. Things turn deadly fast when governing families from both sides are assassinated within a three year span. A cease fire is written up in 455, but it is almost immediately ignored by Chamber Hill. The conflict continues for years after, dying down only because of a rough winter in 460, in which both groups seem to refocus their efforts on home.

In 465, Rhone attempts to take land from the territories. This leads to the War of Violets. John Marston of Chamber Hill and Hohanonivah of Cheyenne form an alliance between the two. The unlikely allies are able to rally other tribes and city states to their aid. Sphera and Kalahari aide the allied Cheyenne peoples to retaking their land and forcing Rhone to surrender.

I

n 500, a feud starts between Chamber Hill and the city state of Revel when the Governor of Revel, Damion Heart kills Johnathan Ford, the son Hale Ford, the Governor of Chamber Hill. The fighting pulls in other mostly non Anasazi people, although Cheyenne does get involved, surprisingly on Chamber Hill’s side. Revel is defeated in 501 and the city-state crumbles.

In 525 a number of small wars happen in the southern tribes. Each tribe records different reasons for it, so pinning down the cause is difficult. Some legend actually attempt to attribute it to a Ikabon, a mythical mischievous imp that is supposed to cause chaos with pranks. These fights last for the next several years.

in 550, Annie Baker starts a city-state known as the Free Peoples of Cheyenne. At the time it is a small and unimportant city-state.

In 560, Sydney led by Governess Margaret Mills starts to cause trouble in multiple tribes. They unite to fight back, but the Free Peoples of

Cheyenne and Annie Baker are instrumental in bringing Mills down. It establishes the FPC as a power in the territories.

In 575, Annie Baker brokers a peace agreement with Chamber Hills, Cheyenne, and many of the other nations under a mutual protection pact. They become known as the Alliance of Cheyenne.

In 600, The Alliance becomes official with a set of laws governing the land, but giving the tribes and cities self governing. It is a shaky system that doesn’t offer much protection as there is no official standing army. The FPC act as the military force and continue to try to keep peace. The Governor of Cheyenne is voted on. Their constitution is called the Annie Baker pact. The nation is referred to as the Cheyenne Territories.

Currently, the governor is James Moss from Quinnipiac, a cunning man who has won reelection four times so far.  The population is 40% Anasazi, and 60% non or mixed. The Anasazi tribes mostly stay apart from the government and the issues of the city-states.
